About Us
The International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW) is the only global network by and for women living with HIV. Established in 1992 by women living with HIV activists as a response to the consistent silencing and marginalizing of the concerns of women living with HIV within the HIV response, ICW has been at the forefront of the feminist HIV response.
ICW’s global network engages leaders in more than 120 countries and works through 10 regional networks in Asia Pacific, Caribbean, Central Africa, East Africa, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), North America, Southern Africa, and West Africa and the Chapter of Young Women and Girls (CYWAG).
In all of our work, it is the grassroots voices, experiences of women living with HIV, our daily struggles and lived realities that inform and shape the ICW agenda.
Our Vision
ICW envisions a world in which all women living with HIV are free from gender oppression, aware of, and asserting their full range of rights, including those related to sexuality, reproduction, the law, society, the economy, and health.
Our Mission
ICW was founded to promote initiatives aimed at protecting and enhancing the standard of living for women with HIV. In order to do this, we mobilize, organize, advocate for, mentor, and raise public awareness about the problems that have a direct bearing on our lives.
Our Global Network
ICW is powered by 10 regional networks – ICW Asia Pacific, ICW Caribbean, ICW Central Africa, ICW Eastern Africa, the Eurasian Women’s Network on AIDS, ICW Latina, MENA Rosa, ICW North America, ICW Southern Africa, ICW West Africa, as well as the Chapter for Young Women, Adolescents and Girls.
Jointly our regions support our global advocacy and direction through the International Steering Committee and in partnership with ICW Regional Leadership.
